Introducing the New Ovni 490 – Full Metal Jacket

Tour the first Ovni 490 with Luc Jurien, CEO of Alubat. From design decisions to the layout of the rigging, twin engine installation and pilothouse, Luc walks us through some of the thinking that has gone into building the first 490.

Unlike the Ovni 370 and 430 which have an aluminum dodger, the 490 is designed with a true pilot house that provides optimum protection in all weather conditions. Other features aboard are the twin engines that provide better maneuverability, allow for the best designed centerboard, provides redundancy, and like the full Ovni range, can be beached.

While still in the early build stages, the raised salon floor aboard the Ovni 490 is visible and will provide the height for panoramic views while at anchor or underway. The technical room is on the port side below the raised floor.

The first hull is moved into the boatyard for the completion of all the metal work. Next step will be the paint shop. The first hull is slated to be launched this Spring.
