From why he chose to install super-cycle AGM batteries and no generator, to specing out a full suite of Garmin nav systems, Kevin details his process and takes us though the electrical and mechanical systems on board his aluminum sailboat.
A big part of his decision making process had to do with accessibility in the United States where he plans to keep JACKY C. Also, his specific requirements for an uncomplicated and robust battery system that he could add to in the future was important. With the idea of keeping his boat mainly in the Chesapeake, he opted to not get a generator, even though he does have air conditioning installed. The thinking behind this is that he’ll most likely be at anchor, but if he’s at the marina, where there is typically little breeze, he’ll plug into shorepower.
These are just some of the considerations that went into his build and demonstrates the willingness of the Alubat Shipyard to work closely with each owner to meet their specific needs.
